Leave it to the Germans to remove the re-imagine the curvy silhouette of a bowl, like this Bjorn Winblad design for Rosenthal Germany. There's no question these clean edges appeal to the minimalists we long to be. It's rigidity is striking, as is the dipped-in-chocolate glaze, which on the surface is 'brown' but on inspection picks up tones of greens and honey. It is both matte yet glossy and it's just lovely to look at.
This piece is part of the Siena pattern - see our coffee set - a studio line produced in the 1970s. Meant to be a salad bowl, it's 8" in diameter and we imagine it holding fruit, or even an upscale water bowl for the pups.
