Vintage MCM Celery Serving Platter by Iroquois Impromptu Bridal White
MCM Celery Serving Platter
MCM Celery Serving Platter
Did you know that at one point, celery, was a luxury? Yep, that crunchy, stringy veggie that kids slather peanut butter on and that we eat, sadly, when all of the buffalo wings are gone, was hard to grow and it was an absolute luxury starting in the 1700s and finally making it more mainstream (read: more available for home use) in the late 1800s.
So, it makes sense that there'd be serving pieces primarily for showing off a celery stash to guests; like this bright white oval celery serving platter made by Iroquois in the '60s. This one is in their Bridal White pattern and was designed by Ben Seigel. This piece is gorgeous and would be a great piece of serve ware for just about anything (though, a pile of celery would also work, but please include hot wings!) We like it for dips, mixed nuts, and sauteed veggies. It would make a crudité platter extra pretty, too--don't hold the celery!
