Vintage Ceramic Nut Dish Painted in an MCM Mod Design from 1955

A Dish for Phyl's Nuts

A Dish for Phyl's Nuts

Ok, we were just smitten by this piece which is so obviously a hobbyist piece--signed by "Phyl" in 1955. Why? Well, for one, that mod MCM design she painted feels iconic--and further research shows us she was trying to dupe a Redwing Pottery pattern popular around that time. For two, this is a Kerry pick and it made her think about her grandmother, Phyllis.

We also love little dishes that can be used for all sorts of things: candy, nuts, olives, a log of nut crusted goat cheese...this is a great entertaining piece for anyone into MCM styles.

  • Vintage ceramic hobbyist nut serving dish painted in an MCM mod pattern in black and tan
  • Signed "Phyl 2-10-55"
  • This is a pre-loved dandie in good vintage condition without major flaws. We do note a little bit of crazing that occurs often with aging ceramic pieces and doesn't spoil its charm at all
