Growing up, I remember going to friends houses who's moms left their butter out. On a counter. Like, warm. Not in the fridge. Are you with me or did you pass out? As a grown up, I now know the dread of having to spread cold butter on my kids' toast every morning. Then, I learned the ways of The Butter Keeper.
To quickly come up to speed on this, I recommend this video of a charming man explaining how to use this product (I especially enjoy the part where he laments the time he let someone else 'load his butter bell'.)
If you're not going to watch the video (though recommend), the tl;dr of it is this: You put an inch or so of water in the bottom of the bell, then you 'load up' the the cup with softened butter. The butter stays fresh and free from bacteria, bugs and there's science involved.
