1950s Smoke Glass Grey Vase Harry Moilanen for Nuutajarvi Notsjo
Scandinavian MCM Smoke Glass Vase
Scandinavian MCM Smoke Glass Vase
Smoke glass is having a moment, you heard it here first. But it also had a moment back in 1950s, when Finnish artist Harry Moilanen dreamed up this heavenly Scandinavian vessel. Moilanen designed for Nuutajärvi Notsjö, the maker of this vase, a Finnish glassworks company that made functional yet minimal and sophisticated designs. In light, thin, ethereal glass (the kind you need to clink to make sure it's not some kind of magic plastic), we love the unique, six-pointed star shape. It looks like someone gave it a wee little twist right before the glass set.
We love it on the table holding any number of things - fresh stems being the most obvious - but we could also see it holding citrus, or something totally unexpected like M&Ms.
