Original, Handmade Linocut Print
Old Man Winter Art
Old Man Winter Art
While we're not sad to see linoleum move on from our kitchen floors, we still like it in our art. A linocut - or lino print - is a print making technique where you carve into a sheet of linoleum, roll on some paint, and stamp it into paper or canvas, which is what we have here.
We're not sure who this unknown artist was conjuring with this lino print; Kerry think it's a salty man of the sea, and Amy think it's Old Man Winter. Other theories include Jesus. Either way, he's got a case of the blues (and blacks and whites) and we are haunted by his sadness. Framed and ready for hanging, this would be at home on a gallery wall, or styled on a bookcase.
