Vintage MCM 1950s Cook & Serve Descoware Serving Plate, made in Japan

It was so mid-cench to make kitchenware that was both stylish, streamlined and highly functional. This particular gem was produced by notable enamel-coated cookware producers, Descoware (later to be purchased by Le Crueset). This beautiful, collectible piece was made during Descoware's brief Japan-production era, when things went a little off the rails - in a good way; colors were brighter, and concepts were more creative.
Designed to be cooked on, the removable porcelainized, heavy-duty steel tray can then be placed on the wood tray trivet (made of Zelkova wood) for stylish serving. Heart eyes.
We love the tomato red (a color that briefly replaced their famous 'flame' color), with the orange underside. The wood tray is in amazing condition; with almost no signs of use at all, we're not sure this piece ever saw a cheese dip!
- Vintage MCM 1950s Cook & Serve Descoware Serving Plate, made in Japan
- Dimensions: Measures 13x11"
- This is a pre-loved dandie; in excellent vintage condition, there's observed flaws present. The enamel tray and wooden trivet are both in excellent shape, with only the most minor scratches collected over the decades.
- Notes from Descoware on how to use this: Designed for oven to table use. Cook in it, warm in it, or broil your favorite steak. The colorful porcelainized heavy duty steel retains heat for sizzling steaks or for popular oven entrees. The cork insulated serving tray makes the heated plate easy to handle. Ideal for indoor and outdoor entertaining.

Care instructions: To properly care for your Descoware accessories, soak in suds, wash and rinse dry. The use of abrasives or scouring may damage the gleaming porcelain surface. The fine grained wood requires wiping with damp cloth.
