1960s MCM Teak Interlocking Sculpture or Salad Stand
Just the Thing Teak Sculpture
Just the Thing Teak Sculpture
If you're looking for just the thing to add some MCM warmth to your home decor, we love the interest of this interlocking teak tripod stand. In our research, we've seen this 1960s gem called both a sculpture and... a salad bowl stand (I guess elevating our salad was a thing in the mid 20th century?). I gave it a shot, and yes, it works, but why?
Instead, we like this as an item of visual interest, a feast for the eyeballs. In rich teak wood, the top 'petals' are carved to look as such. The whole interlocking structure collapses down (for easy storage in your salad drawer?). We like it for one of those items of interest that make a home, homey. Friends will pick it up, stand it up, fold it down, repeat. It's fun to play with and fun to look at, and dammit, we love teak.
