Hudson River Inlay Marquetry Clock of a Sailboat on Water & Seagulls

Wood You Tell Me The Time

Wood You Tell Me The Time

Sometimes we just feel really lucky to find items we didn't even know we were looking for; that's the case with this wooden clock made from a technique called marquetry where an artist layers thin pieces of differently colored wood to create decorative, artistic patterns. It's so intricate. And we love this piece because we're both boat people and we can really feel the wind in our hair just looking at this spectacular design.

Furthermore, we are absolutely delighted to see that the back of the clock shows every type of wood used in this piece. And that it was made by Hudson River Inlay. And of course, being the curious people we are, we looked up this company. They are still in business making beautiful art. And believe me, this is a deal considering their currently published (and definitely worth it!) prices.

  • Hudson River Inlay marquetry clock depicting a sail boat in motion and seagulls keeping up
  • Signed "Nelson"
  • Dimensions: ~16 1/4"H x ~7 1/4"W x ~1 1/2"D
  • This is a pre-loved dandie in great condition. There is the smallest of wear to the frame but no major damage. And we tested that the clock works (it's currently keeping time in Kerry's office.)
