Original Framed 1970's Embroidery of Goose That Laid the Golden Egg
Fabled Embroidery Folk Art
Fabled Embroidery Folk Art
If you're like embroidery artist MBK, you like your decor with a side of heavy-handed allegory. Most everyone knows the famous Aesop Fable of the goose that laid the golden eggs; his greedy owners were too impatient to enjoy the slow but steady stream of golden eggs, and instead attempted to get rich quick by killing the goose. I mean, he must be like, FULL of gold, right? Spoiler: they regretted this assumption.
Well, if you just adore this adorable tale, you might like a daily reminder that greed is bad. In 12"x14" format, this vintage embroidery is truly charming, from the dubious look on the goose's face to the menacing approach of the owner and of course that damn golden egg. We love the yellow detailing - and in a rustic but super sunny wooden frame, this whole piece is a metaphor of folksy perfection and would like great in a gallery wall or child's nursery. The artist even included an overview of the fable (lest we forget) and signed and dated the piece, 1975.
