Vintage Blue Delft Miniature House Decanter, #48
Boozy Little Dutch House
Boozy Little Dutch House
We all know air travel isn't what it used to be, but did you know that in the 1950's, KLM Airlines began distributing these charming Netherland house miniatures, called Blue Delfts, to their business-class travelers? As if that wasn't reason enough to opt for an upgrade, they were filled with booze (Dutch Genever, to be exact). Yes, you read that correct: alcohol was consumed out of mini, handheld dutch houses. Please tell me this is what heaven is like.
By the year 1993, KLM had produced 60 different houses for distribution on their airline, all of which are numbered. This one is #48, and marked as such. AND this little dandie includes the original seal on the chimney - AND THERE'S STILL SOME BOOZE INSIDE (but don't drink it).
These are a highly collectable item, often put in front windows so everyone can observe what extreme quaintness looks like on display.
- Original KLM Blue Delfts house produced 1960-69
- Marked #48, which is the Rembrandt House in Amesterdam
- This is a pre-loved dandie in excellent condition with no observed issues, with seal still in tact, and some alcohol still present inside.
