I've always thought that fresh asparagus has an artful quality (until I toss it from the vegetable drawer, uneaten); the (unknown) artist of this vintage folksy piece certainly agreed, bringing this stem veggie to life in fine black ink detailing and watercolor.
We love the cooking instructions in tight slanted penmanship, but we do take issue with is the recipe itself; 20 minutes in boiling water? Sounds the artist stole this recipe from my mother-in-law in her plot to make food as unenjoyable as possible. (She would never add cheese sauce, though.)
Framed in reclaimed wood, there's a rustic quality that would look great mixed into a gallery wall, or standing along in a country kitchen.
