Vintage Antique Brush Pottery Matte Green Petal Bowl
Antique Matte Green Planter Pot
Antique Matte Green Planter Pot
George Brush (I read that wrong the first time too) starte his pottery busines in 1901, Ohio. After that burned down (oops), he became the manager of the JW McCoy pottery, when he and McCoy decided they would partner up to form the Brush-McCoy pottery company. After some other stuff went down, eventually the company became just the Brush Pottery Co, in 1925.
Interestingly, the name Brush Pottery came from the strokes made with grass or straw on the bottom of the flat bottom pottery. This piece comes from their 'matte green' line, and a lovely green it is; somewhere between teal and kelly, we love the matte finish and multi-tonal glaze.
Meant to be a flower pot, we also could see this as a beautiful candy bowl or to hold some cranberry sauce when the time is right.
