A Very Royal Griffin Statue

I guess if I could choose to be a mythical creature, the Griffin - half eagle, half lion -  would rank pretty high on my list.  Originating from Egyptian folklore, the Griffins were meant to be protectors of royal gold and possessions. Now, the Griffin is a symbol of prestige and courage and - let's be honest -  total badass-ery.  

When we hit up a recent estate sale, we tried to play it very cool when we spotted this must-have MCM style Royal Haeger Griffin statue. We quickly learned it's impossible to not attract attention when carrying this piece around under your arm; it's somewhat of a spectacle.  In nearly perfect condition, there are no observed cracks of chips present - though we do wish the Royal Haeger sticker was fully intact.  

We love the deep black, high-gloss glaze that only adds to the drama inherent in a 15" Griffin statue. Produced in the 1990s in celebration of Haeger's 125th Anniversary, this is a somewhat limited piece. Currently perched safely on a tall shelf in Amy's kitchen, it's the kind of statue that, on it's own, makes you do a little quizzical head-tilt.. yet, when mixed into other decor, it blends perfectly into its surroundings like it was always there. Protecting you...your highness.

• This is a pre-loved dandie; in very good vintage condition, no observed flaws present. The sticker is only half intact, for anyone that isn't going to peel it off immediately anyway.
