Original 1970s Skittle-Bowl Game by Aurora Products
Skittle-Bowl Game
Skittle-Bowl Game
In a world of overstimulation, sometimes it's nice to unplug with some good old fashioned nostalia. Amy recently went thrifting with a friend who spotted this old-timey Skittle-Bowl game from his youth. Skittle Bowl, originally a full-size game of European descent, was mostly played in the woods by rolling a ball at wooden pins. Sounds like bowling. Like with most things, Americans discovered a way to commercialize the game and bring it to suburban living rooms everywhere.
Produced by Aurora Products in 1970, this game claims to be the original Skittle-Bowl game. We adore the box art, especially these grown-ass men really enjoying their fierce competition. Because we're professionals, we tested the game for fun ourselves. Verdict? Still holds up.
While in very good vintage condition, we know that the game was well-loved because we discovered a series of scorecards still in the box. Mike, John, JB and Phillis were avid players and unfortunately the little scamps didn't leave any remaining cards behind. Nor did they use the competition rule book, which is also missing. All other pieces required to play the game are accounted for, including pins, playing field, ball and chain, and two-piece pole.
Ready to play, sets up in seconds. The next best thing to having a bowling alley in your living room!
